What Is Landscape Photography?
Landscape photography typically captures photos of nature, for example beaches, parks, forests. Landscape photography focuses on the natural world and it has a purpose. When taking landscape photography not only does the picture have to be good but I also think you should be able to tell a story with it. You should be able to express feelings and make people see the natural beauty of nature. I am looking forward to exploring this topic.
Landscape Photographer 1 : Antony Spencer
Antony Spencer is a photographer who specializes in landscape photography. He is based in Dorset and in 2010 he became the U.K landscape photographer of the year. Antony says that he has always been interested in photography and landscapes and in 2007 he started taking it seriously. He take some of his pictures in remote places. Sometimes when he takes his pictures he looks for a curved 's' shape. Antony says that he always plans his work and he loves taking pictures around sunsets. I really like his work because it explores a lot and shows different aspects of nature.

Analysing Antony Spencer Work:
This is a photo of Antony Spencer that I really like. First of all I really like how all the colours come together, it sets a perfect scene. Also I like how most of the image is quite dark but then there is a spot of sunlight coming through. It reminds me of how people say it might be dark right now but there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, it is like a message through his photo which i love. I think the angle is just right for the photo. All together this photo is good, the colours, the angle, the scene makes this photo come together.
This is my second favorite photo of Antony. Firstly I love where the photo is took, the photo makes me feel calm and relaxed; it makes me want to go there. The colours bring the photo together, the angle is right and I love how you can clearly see the water fall. Also I like how you can see the movement of the waves. All together this photo is good, the colours, the angle, the scene makes this photo come together.

Landscape Photographer 2: Colin Prior
Colin Prior is known as one of the UK’s most respected photographers. He was born in Glasgow, his interest for photography started from the Scottish highlands as he soon figured out that he had passion for nature and the outdoors. Most of his photographs capture moments of land. Colin always says that he wants to find hidden links between reality and the imagination. He puts a lot of preparation into his work as he is very dedicated. He loves photography and I think he is very good at it.
Analysing Colin Prior Work:
This is one photo of Colin's that I really like. Firstly of all the colours match so they come together. I love how you can see the reflection of the trees in the water. The photo is taken from a distance so you can see the whole view rather than only seeing a little bit. It looks like the sun is setting which creates a perfect scene it makes you feel calm; it makes a fantastic photo.
This is a second photo of Colin's that I like. All the colours match so they come together. I love how it looks like the sun is setting and half the photo is dark and the other half you can see a bright light shining through. It is a taken from a different angle not just straight ahead, the angle of the photo makes it better. The photo reminds you of a peaceful day and that's why I think it is a good photo.
Beginning Photos:
These are just some beginning photos to start me of on my landscape photography unit. Throughout this unit I will be taking photos of beaches, woodland and parkland.
Shoot 1:
Analysing Shoot 1:
Best Photo: I think that this photo is the best from shoot 1 because firstly I like the angle of it, the trees look like there hovering you. The branches all come together so it is like a tree tower. Also I think the aperture and focus are just right for the photo. Also I like how the sunlight is glowing through the trees. It reminds me of a saying ' there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. It reminds me of this because most of the photo is dark but then you can see the light shining through.
Worst Photo: I think out of my first shoot this is the worst photo because firstly it is out of focus and the angle, I think it would of been better with a worm's eye view. Also the picture is too dark and it just looks like a big bunch of bushes. Also the tree looks upside down. You cannot see the composition of the picture. It would of been better if I used shutter speed so that I could freeze the moment of the photo where wind is pushing the trees in the opposite direction.
Edited Photos:
In the edited photos I increased the hue and saturation and adjusted the brightness and contrast. I also adjusted the selective colour.
Shoot 2:
Edited Photos:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast then I added a filter and increased the hue and saturation.
Analsying Shoot 2:
Best Photo: I really liked shoot 2 and I had 3 favorites so I decided to chose this one. I like this one because firstly the angle and aperture are right for this photo. Also I think it is in focus. I also like how you can see the texture of the waves and it also looks like the water has different shades of blue and how you can see a shimmer of sunlight shining through. It kind of reminds me of a nice sunny peaceful day and hopefully it would remind of others of this.
Worst Photo: This photo is okay, I like the shadows however overall I do not think it is good photo. Firstly I believe that the angle is wrong, it does not suit the photo; it kind of looks like there is supposed to be more of the photo but half of it has been chopped off. It is kind of out of focus and also it is too far away I could of zoomed in a bit. I could of made this photo a lot better.
Shoot 3:
Edited Photos:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast then I added a filter and increased the hue and saturation.
Analsying Shoot 3:
Best Photo: This is one of my good photos from shoot 3. I think it is good because first it is like a comparison from shot 2, the water in shoot 2 is kind of shiny and clear and the water from this shoot is dull and grey so it kind of shows two difference of what it could of look like. Furthermore you can see the waves and ripples of the water it shows a good effect. Finally I think it is in focus and the angle and aperture are right for the photo.
Worst Photo: I think that this is the worst photo because firstly it does not show anything, there is no real focus or meaning for the photo. Also the angle is not right, maybe if it was taken from a worms eye view or a side view. Finally the photo just looks like it is missing something and some of the photo has been chopped off.
Shoot 4:
Edited Photos:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast then I added a filter and increased the hue and saturation.
Analysing Shoot 4:
Best Photo: Shoot 4 was not that good but I like this photo because I like how the chain is the main focus and you can see the ripples of the water in the background. Also I believe that the photo is in focus and the angle is right for the photo.
Worst Photo: I think that this is the worst photo because firstly the lighting in the photo is bad and you cannot really see anything, also the photo is out of focus. The photo does not show anything really it just looks like a bunch of leaves. To make this photo better I think it needs to be in focus more and you can see what the picture is. also a side angle maybe and a worm's eye view.
Shoot 5:
Edited Shoot 5:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast then I increased the hue and saturation.
Analysing Shoot 5:
Best Photo: shoot 5 is when I tried to capture the reflection of the lights on the water. The photos were okay but I found it a little difficult to capture it without it being out of focus. This photo I think is the best because firstly I like how it is a far distance view and although it is a little out of focus you can still clearly see the water waves and the reflection. Also I think that the angle and aperture were just right.
Worst Photo: Shoot 5 was not the best and I think this photo is the worst because firstly the photo is out of focus and the angle is not right. Furthermore the pole is coming in the way and it distracts you from seeing the water and reflections. To make this photo better I would make sure it is in focus and zoom in more so you can see the ripples of the water and the different colours of reflections also I would make sure the depth of field is right
Shoot 6: Edited Effect
Edited Shoot 6:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I changed the selective colour as well.
Analysing Shoot 6:
Best Photo: This was my favourite photo from shoot 6 I think it is good because firstly I like the colour of the sky it makes me smile and I think a photo should make somebody feel emotions and feelings to make it a good photo. Also I like how the trees and street is pretty dark yet the sky is a vibrant blue colour which stands out also you can see the sun shining in the background. It is in focus and has the right angle and zoom. It shows how beautiful the sky can be.
Worst Photo: This photo is not bad but it is the worst from shoot 6. I think it is a little bad because the trees in the picture were not supposed to be there so the angle needed to be sorted and it should of been taken more closely. Also it could of been better if there was a bird in the sky flying.
Shoot 7:
Edited Shoot 7:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I changed the selective colour as well.
Analysing Shoot 7:
Best Photo: I really like the photos of the water splashing in shoot 7 and I think they are good. This photo I like because you can clearly see the water splashing against the edge. Also you can see the waves and layers of the water. It is like you can see tiny bubbles. Furthermore I love how the sun is glistening on the water giving it a shiny effect. The photo is in focus and depth of field and aperture are right for the photo. Overall I really like it.
Worst Photo: Shoot 7 photo I think was good but this photo is bad. The only reason I think it is bad because the heart in the sand was not shown properly and the shadow was covering half the photo. It was not taken properly. Instead of just a heart I could of been more creative and found things to make up a sea animal like a crab or dolphin, I will try being more creative.
Shoot 8:
Edited Shoot 8:
In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I changed the selective colour as well.
Analysing Shoot 8
Best Photo: Shoot 8 was good I like the water photos this is one of my favourites. I like this because firstly it is in focus and the angle is right. It is not too zoomed in or out, the aperture and depth of field are good. The water looks like it is never ending and you can see the waves. The part I like the most is the bird flying
Worst Photo: This photo looks a bit to bright, there is a lot of white in the photo. I think I used flash which I should not have. The photo needed to be more straight and the angle should of been facing forward more. It is an okay photo but I could do better.
Shoot 9:
Edited Shoot 9:
In this edited part I edited them on my phone. In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I added a filter as well.
Analysing Shoot 9:
Best Photo: I had 2 favorites this photo and the waterfall but I decided to chose this one. I like this one because firstly the angle and aperture are right for this photo. Also it looks like it as a small depth of field. I also like how it is out of focus on the outside and it focuses on the sand in the reflection. I also like how you can see the texture of the sand and you can also see the little grains. You can also see some of the grains shimmering. On the outside you can see the rest of the sand.
Worst Photo: This photo I think is the worst because firstly it looks as if it is out of focus. I think The photo needed to be more straight and the angle should of been facing forward more. I also think the photo looks quite boring there is nothing much going on in the photo and the colours are quite plain. I do not think it shows the perfect idea of the beach.
Shoot 10:
Shoot 10 Edited:
In this edited part I edited them on my phone. In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I added a filter as well.
Analysing Shoot 10:
BEST PHOTO: I do not think that this shoot was very good but this photo stood out for me. It reminds me of a desert. I like how there is a continuous pattern throughout the whole photo and it looks as if it is carrying on and on. I really like the crossed pattern.
Worst Photo: This photo I think is the worst because it is out of focus. Also you cannot really tell what is in the photo and again the photo is boring. There is nothing there and it is way to bright. I think I used the flash which has impacted the photo a lot. Overall the photo is not good.
Shoot 11:
Edited Shoot 11:
In this edited part I edited them on my phone. In the edited photos I changed the brightness and contrast and I increased the hue and saturation. I added a filter as well.
Analysing Shoot 11:
Best Photo: I think that this is my best photo of shoot 11. Firstly I like how it is taken at night and also I like how you can see the sea and the sand. It is in focus and the angle is right. It is not too zoomed in or out, the aperture and depth of field are good. My favorite part of the photo is the sun shining, I like how it shines on the sea and sand but it also leaves a straight line on the ground.
Worst Photo: This photo I think is one of the worst because it is quite out of focus. Also again you cannot really tell what is in the photo and again the photo is boring. The whole back of the photo is completely white and you can't see anything, again I think is because I used flash which I shouldn't have. Overall I do not like this photo.
